Recently, my rat, Mycroft's, health was not so good. He looked like he was not going to make it, but he did! My dad did some research on the matter and the page was called Rat First Aid by Debbie "The Rat Lady" Ducommun. One of the tips was making the room moist, and this makes it easier for the rat to breathe. My rat's breathing seemed laboured, and he got really skinny. He was gasping for air. So we got our cool mist vaporizer out and moisturized the bathroom. We put him in the washroom along with his cage and by the next day, he was a lot better! He even started to eat. When he was sick, we were hand feeding him the water by dipping our hands in water and letting him lick them because he was not drinking out of his bottle or a bowl. Now I am not 100% sure if this works on every rat, I am not a professional vet or anything, but it worked for my rat and he is all better now! For your rat to get his or her bulk back, avocados are really good foods for them. Lots of protein and good fats. Avocados are Mycroft's favourite food, so we have always given it to him on a regular basis and most rats have a similar appetite, so your rat will probably be inclined to eat avocados. Well I really hope you found this post helpful with your little companion so bye bye for now :-)!
